Patternmaking, one of the most time consuming “hidden” parts of the finished garment, is one expertise that Toshiki has, thankfully, as about 90% of our business is custom sizing. Besides making “standard” size patterns, (not vanity sizing, but real world sizing), for our stock, each time we take your custom order, we make your pattern. The photo I take of you when placing your order gets taped to the pattern, and when we are finished with your piece, we put the pattern in storage and keep it. Many times someone calls and says I love the fit of my coat, I want the same thing in a different color, or trim, and we pull out the pattern and discuss new options. Voila, a fresh look, same comfort and style they have loved for years.
That is a great blog, it is an overlooked part of our businesses and such a vital one at that. Good job!
Yes, and it is major added value from buying “local” from a designer you meet face to face at a show of what seems to be one of the last places to buy American Made, especially garments
And around the corner is American Craft Week, to show your appreciation
